one year ago...5/23/10

one year ago today, i did something crazy. one year ago today, i had my hair done up like a flower. one year ago today, my friend made my eyes sparkle. one year ago today, i put on a long, white dress. one year ago today, my mother attached a veil into my hair. one year ago today, my father told me i looked beautiful. one year ago today, my friends gave a toast and we drank champagne out of plastic cups. one year ago today, my mother slipped her engagement ring on my right finger..my something "old". one year ago today, i pinned my grandfather's wedding band into my dress..my something "borrowed". one year ago today, i slipped on a pair of white flip flops..with flowers. one year ago today, i stepped off the elevator to find him. one year ago today, we ran across the street again and again to take photos next to old buildings, fences and palm trees. one year ago today, my daddy walked me down the beach to canon d (steel drums). one year ago today, i said vows i had written weeks prior. one year ago today, i listened to vows spoken about me and "us". one year ago today, we said words that changed our lives. one year ago today, family and friends blessed us with 'congrats' and 'best wishes' and cheers. one year ago today, i kissed a boy who i now call husband. one year ago today, we walked down the beach, each wearing a new band on our fingers. one year ago today, we danced the night away with family, friends and good music. one year ago today, he told me he'd love me forever..and i told him i'd love him forever. one year ago today, i married the love of my life...

happy mother's day...

i just wanted to wish all the mothers i know out there a very happy mother's day. of course, i am partial to my own sweet momma. because of her i am the woman i am today. she has guided me for the last 29 years and guides me still. she is my best friend..the person i turn to in times of joy and times of sorrow. i am so very lucky, i know. i'm sorry i couldn't be with you on your special day, but here's to you, mom, for being so wonderful. happy mother's day. :)

yosemite with the lubbens...

luke and i made it down to (modesto) california this past weekend to visit with cyndi, greg, jacob and emily! we had a great time and made it to yosemite for the day! i had forgotten how incredibly beautiful it is and was thankful to be there with my love and great friends. oh, and some pretty stinkin' cute kids. enjoy some shots from our trip...

happy birthday sweet hubby..

we celebrated hubby's birthday last weekend with good friends, good food and good fun! of course you're never too old to open presents. ;) this year was all about things soccer-related. oh wait, that's every year. and every holiday for that matter! luke has been carrying around a barcelona poster his mom got for him years ago and i snuck it out of the house and had it professionally framed. so excited with how it turned out AND that i managed to surprise my husband, the detective.

home renovations..

well, we finally got around to our first home projects...it's officially ours. that's what the paint says anyway. ha! we decided to say goodbye to the dark purple master bedroom walls and hello to a nicer "cool blue" color. things that make painting a not-so-easy task: popcorn ceilings, two-tone colors that look exactly the same and result in a third trip to home depot for a different shade of blue, 18 holes in the closet that needed patching and dry-time before priming, having to shift furniture so you can squeeze into the corner to paint baseboards, smacking your head on newly primed closet and having to wash primer out of your hair for days. other than that, it was fun and we love the new look! thanks to my dad (& mom & hubby) we now have two (of three) closets remodeled and much more functional! just need to add some sort of cover on them.

i even managed to squeeze some of luke's clothes into the closet! hehe..

sunshine=fun..

no offense to everyone on the east coast, but seattle has had some of the most beautiful, spring-time weather these last few weeks...saturday was no exception and we made it out for a little (and by little, i mean, quite steep) 4 mile hike on squak mountain..not too far from where we live. it was absolutely gorgeous...
